Educational Loan Repayment Assistance
As a part of implementing the Governing Board’s 2015 strategic planning decisions, the Governing Board approved establishment of a partnership with the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) for a targeted expansion in CMSP counties of two OSHPD administered health care workforce development programs:
- Allied Healthcare Loan Repayment Program (AHLRP) with a focus on various allied health care personnel needed in medical offices, clinics and hospitals.
- California State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) with a focus on primary care physicians, psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in CMSP counties.
Under the 2017 CMSP Loan Repayment Program (CMSP LRP) in CMSP counties, 27 applicants were awarded loan repayments of up to $50,000 in exchange for a two-year service obligation providing direct patient care at a qualifying, CMSP-contracted provider location. The CMSP LRP award totaled $1,000,000. The next CMSP LRP funding cycle opens on January 30, 2018 and closes March 30, 2018. For more information on the CMSP LRP, please visit: http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/HWDD/CMSPLRP.html or email your questions to SLRP@oshpd.ca.gov. The second CMSP AHLRP cycle is now closed and award notifications will occur soon.
